# Mango Radio

A complete replacement for GTA V's vehicle radio — a cinematic station carousel, a full infotainment browser, real transmitter range, and your own server-hosted station synced to every player.

> **Not a radio menu — a radio system.** Every station your players already know, presented the way GTA should have done it, plus one station that is entirely yours.

Mango Radio replaces the stock radio wheel with two surfaces that work together. A **quick carousel** rides at the top of the screen for instant station changes without ever taking your hands off the wheel, and a **full station browser** slides in as an angled infotainment panel when you want to browse, favourite and read what's playing.

Underneath it is the real GTA radio the whole time — the same stations, the same audio, no streaming, no duplicate playback. On top of that sit the things GTA never gave you: **real transmitter coverage** so a local station fades into static as you leave its county, **artist and song titles** for over a thousand tracks, **per-player favourites** that survive reconnects, and a **server-hosted station** playing your own music, in perfect sync for everyone listening.

* **Two surfaces, one radio** — carousel and browser stay in lockstep with each other and with any other script
* **Zero idle cost** — no threads, loops or NUI work unless you are in a vehicle
* **Nothing hardcoded** — keys, colours, positions, stations, coverage and artwork are all config
* **Standalone** — no framework, no dependencies, no database

## The two surfaces

**The carousel** is the fast one. Tap the radio key and you skip a station instantly, with a brief flash of artwork and the song title. Hold it and the carousel opens properly: the station you are on sits enlarged in the centre, its neighbours shrink and fade away to either side, and moving the mouse skims through them. Let go and whatever is centred becomes your station. You keep steering the whole time.

**The station browser** is the considered one. It slides in from the right as an angled panel — status strip, station artwork, now playing, transport controls, and the full list of stations with hearts and genres. By default it is driven entirely by the keyboard so nothing ever takes the mouse away from driving.

## Built on the real radio

Everything you hear is GTA's own radio. Mango Radio never streams a station, never duplicates audio and never fights the game for control. It disables the stock radio wheel while you are in a vehicle, tracks what is actually playing through the game's own natives, and follows along if another script changes the station behind its back.

The one exception is the [Media Player](/mango5m-docs/resources/mango-radio/media-player.md) — the station your server hosts itself. That one plays your audio files, scheduled by the server so that every listener hears the same song at the same moment.

{% hint style="info" %}
Mango Radio is standalone. It does not need ESX, QBCore, Qbox or a database — favourites persist through FiveM's own per-player storage.
{% endhint %}
