# Quick Start

Learn every control in a single drive.

Get in a car. Everything below happens without taking your hands off the wheel.

## The carousel

### Tap `Q`

You skip to the next station. The carousel flashes up at the top of the screen showing the artwork, the station name and — if it is a music station — the artist and song title, then fades away.

### Hold `Q`

The carousel opens properly and a cursor appears. The station you are on is enlarged in the centre with a coloured ring; its neighbours shrink and fade to either side.

### Move the mouse left and right

You skim through the stations. Push the cursor to the edge of the screen and it keeps scrolling, so you never run out of desk. The scroll wheel steps one station at a time.

### Release `Q`

Whatever is centred becomes your station, with a quick bounce and a ripple in that station's colours.

You can steer, accelerate and brake the entire time.

## The station browser

Press **`G`** in a vehicle. A panel slides in from the right, angled slightly towards you.

By default it is **keyboard-driven with no cursor at all**, so nothing takes the mouse away from driving:

| Key     | Does                                                  |
| ------- | ----------------------------------------------------- |
| `↑` `↓` | Move the highlight — hold to scroll, and it speeds up |
| `↵`     | Tune to the highlighted station                       |
| `Q` `E` | Skip straight to the previous / next station          |
| `TAB`   | All Stations → Favourites → the power button          |
| `SPACE` | Pause / resume                                        |
| `F`     | Favourite the highlighted station                     |
| `G`     | Close                                                 |

Press `G` again, or `ESC`, to close it.

Prefer point-and-click? Set `Config.RadioMenu.keyboardNav = false` and the panel gets a cursor, hover states and a subtle 3D tilt that follows the mouse.

## Try these

* **Favourite something.** Highlight a station, press `F`. Press `TAB` to jump to the Favourites page and it is there — and it will still be there after a reconnect.
* **Turn the radio off.** Press `SPACE`, or `TAB` to the power button and press `↵`. The header switches to a clean off state instead of pretending something is playing.
* **Drive to Sandy Shores and tune to Blaine County Radio.** Then drive back towards the city and listen to it degrade into static as you leave the transmitter's range. Drive back and it picks itself up again.
