# Now Playing

Where the artist and song titles come from, and what to do about gaps.

GTA does not hand out the playing song as readable text. The only thing the game exposes is a numeric text-table id — so Mango Radio ships the mapping.

## 1056 tracks, included

`html/assets/tracks.js` contains the artist and title for **1056 tracks**, covering the base game and every radio DLC, keyed by that id.

The table was generated from the game's own `dat54` / `dat151` audio metadata, so the strings are the ones GTA itself would display — not hand-typed approximations.

## Where it shows

* Under the station name in the carousel, with an animated equalizer
* In the station browser's header, as `Title — Artist`
* On the on-air row in the station list, replacing the genre line

## Talk stations and adverts

These genuinely have no track id. The carousel and the browser correctly show just the station name and its genre during them, rather than leaving a stale song title on screen or bouncing an equalizer with nothing behind it.

## If a song shows no title

Enable debug and ask:

```lua
Config.Debug = true
```

```
/mradio_trackid
```

It prints the raw id and whether the table has an entry:

```
[mango_radio] station=RADIO_02_POP rawTrackId=1491
[mango_radio] id 1491 resolved → MAROON 5 – Moves Like Jagger (feat. Christina Aguilera)
```

If it reports the id is missing, add it to `html/assets/tracks.js`:

```js
window.RADIO_TRACKS = {
    1491: { artist: "MAROON 5", title: "Moves Like Jagger" },
};
```

Unknown ids simply show the station name only — nothing breaks.

{% hint style="info" %}
The [Media Player](/mango5m-docs/resources/mango-radio/media-player.md) does not use this table at all. Its titles come straight from your `music.lua`, so whatever you type there is what players see.
