# Quick Start

Raise a call, respond to it, take Primary and clear it Code 4 - in about two minutes.

This walks the whole loop once, from the server side, so you can see every part of the resource working before you connect anything to it.

### Go on duty as a unit

Join the server with a character whose job is in `Config.Recipients.jobs`. That is all "being a unit" means by default - there is no separate duty toggle inside this resource.

Not sure you qualify? Press `F7`. If the quick call window opens (even empty), you are a unit. If nothing happens, you are not - see [Recipients and Units](/mango5m-docs/resources/mango-dispatch/configuration/recipients-and-units.md).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Raise a test call

From any other resource, or a quick test file, on the **server**:

```lua
exports['mango_dispatch']:CreateCall({
    code = '10-90',
    title = 'Robbery - Convenience Store',
    description = 'Masked male with a handgun took the register.',
    callerName = 'Priya Kapoor',
    callerNumber = '555-0102',
    tags = { 'weapon', 'robbery' },
    x = 25.7, y = -1347.3, z = 29.5,
})
```

An alert card slides into the corner of the screen of every unit, with a sound.

{% hint style="info" %}
Coordinates are **required on the server** - a call with no valid coords is rejected and `CreateCall` returns `nil`. From a client script you can leave them out and the player's own position is used.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Respond

Press `Y` while the card is up. The card disappears, the quick call window opens on the responder list for that call, and a blip plus a GPS route to the scene appears on your map.

You are automatically **Primary**, because you were first.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Bring in a second unit

Have another officer press `F7`, highlight the call with the arrow keys and press `Y`. They join as a responder; you keep Primary. They can press `Tab` to take Primary from you.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Clear it

Press `Backspace`. The call is marked Code 4, it disappears from every unit's window, everyone's route is cleared, and the call moves into recent history where other resources can still read it.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Try it as a player

Any player - not just units - can call it in:

```
/911 someone just smashed the window at the liquor store
```

The call reaches every unit with the caller's name, phone number and the street they are standing on. See [911 Calls](/mango5m-docs/resources/mango-dispatch/features/911-calls.md).
