# Reports

The player-facing report window, mentions, attachments and clips.

{% code title="shared/config/reports.lua" %}

```lua
Config.Reports = {
    command     = 'report',     -- /report <message>
    openCommand = 'myreport',   -- a player reopens their window
    maxOpen     = 3,            -- open reports one player may have at once
    messageMax  = 400,
}
```

{% endcode %}

A report is a **conversation**, not a ticket. The player gets a real window with the thread in it, and staff reply from the Reports page.

## Who may do what

| Setting                     | Decides                                                       |
| --------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `allowReported` | May a reporter name who they are reporting? Staff always may |
| `allowInvite` | May anyone in a report pull somebody else in? |
| `attachments.staffOnly` | Who may attach players and vehicles a report is about |
| `attachments.showToPlayers` | May the player see what is attached? They can never change it |
| `deleteOwn` | May somebody take back their own message? |

Deleting leaves a tombstone rather than removing the row: a reply pointing at nothing, or a silent gap in what is meant to be a record of an incident, is worse than a line saying plainly that somebody deleted something.

## Mentions

Typing `@` offers the people on the server. What it searches is yours to choose — some servers want staff naming characters, others only ever use player names:

```lua
mentions = {
    enabled = true, staffOnly = true, fuzzy = true,
    byPlayerName = true, byCharacterName = true, byId = true,
}
```

Plate matching is fuzzy too, within a configurable edit distance, because a plate read off a screen is the single most misremembered thing in any report.

## Clips

If clips are enabled, the player's own client records the seconds **before** they pressed report and attaches the video to the thread. See [Screenshots and Clips](/mango5m-docs/resources/mango-admin/configuration/screenshots-and-clips.md).
