# Config Files Overview

Which file holds what.

## The config

Eleven files, loaded in this order by `fxmanifest.lua`. They all write into the same `Config` table, so it makes no difference which file a setting sits in — only how long it takes you to find it.

| -------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `shared/config.lua`              | **Start here.** Who may open the panel, what it is called, the server card |
| `shared/config/permissions.lua`  | The 76 permissions, the four default roles, role colours and icons         |
| `shared/config/moderation.lua`   | Kicks, bans, identifiers, warnings, jail, and what a removed player reads  |
| `shared/config/reports.lua`      | Reports, the report window, clips, and calling somebody to Discord         |
| `shared/config/players.lua`      | Mugshots, vehicle tracking, the live map, garages, characters, inventories |
| `shared/config/economy.lua`      | Accounts, balances and what staff may move                                 |
| `shared/config/dashboard.lua`    | The dashboard, the mini menu, health thresholds, the audit log             |
| `shared/config/honeypots.lua`    | The decoys, and what each one does when it is tripped                      |
| `shared/config/entities.lua`     | Spawn limits, and what **Clear the area** sweeps up                        |
| `shared/config/protection.lua`   | How the panel and the guard work together                                  |
| `shared/config/integrations.lua` | Notifications, Discord and Steam                                           |

Settings of your own can go in a new file in `shared/config/`, added to `fxmanifest.lua` below the others.

## The rest of the panel

## The watchdog

| File                  | What it is                                                                   |

| `config.lua`          | The two resource names, and how the guard behaves                            |
| `server/main.lua`     | Detection, recovery and the incident history                                 |
| `server/hold.lua`     | What is held while the panel is down                                         |
| `server/snapshot.lua` | What the panel would lose by restarting                                      |
| `client/report.lua`   | The only client file: the stand-in report window, death reporting and decoys |
| `data/`               | The incident history and anything currently being held                       |

## Settings worth knowing about

`Config.Brand` and `Config.Server` are deliberately config-only. They change what every staff member sees, so they should need file access and a restart — not a toggle inside the panel.

**Nothing here writes to your database unless you ask it to.** The panel reads characters, vehicles and money from your framework's tables and never keeps a second copy, and its own records are JSON files in `data/`. The one exception is opt-in: turning on [ban storage in your database](/mango5m-docs/resources/mango-admin/configuration/bans-and-identifiers.md) creates two tables of its own and touches nothing else.
